Eliel Hinojosa began his career in education in 2005. For the past 15 years, he has taught a variety of grade levels and subjects from Pre-K through 12th grade in South Texas ISD, La Joya ISD, Bryan ISD, and, most recently, Bay City ISD. Additionally, Mr. Hinojosa instructed at the post-secondary level, teaching undergraduate Social Studies Methods at Texas A&M University. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University and holds two Master’s Degrees, one in Curriculum & Instruction from Texas A&M University, and the second, in Secondary Education from the University of Texas - Pan American. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate at Texas A&M in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture. His research focuses on leadership and professional development influences on recruiting, supporting and retaining teachers. He will complete his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in August 2021.
Mr. Hinojosa was led to saving faith in Jesus Christ in 2001 as an undergraduate at Texas A&M University, while attending Breakaway, a weekly student Bible study. In 2008, he was called to serve in the music ministry and began to serve as a member of the worship team. Since 2010, he has served as a worship leader and currently serves as the Worship Pastor and Elder at Engage Calvary.
Mr. Hinojosa is passionate about teaching and learning. He believes the elementary grades (grammar school) provide opportunities critical to the development of children. He views the grammar school as foundational for learning experiences that lead children to a love for learning. Additionally, he believes in a Classical Christian education, one that emphasizes learning through the pursuit of Jesus Christ, nourishes and cultivates children toward Christ-like development. This learning and discipleship equips children by enabling them to exercise active faith for the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
Outside of teaching, learning and service, Mr. Hinojosa enjoys spending time with his wife, Cecilia. In 2020, they celebrated their 18th year of marriage. They enjoy spending time with family, which includes their three dachshunds, Sundance, Abilene and Cassidy.
Calvary Classical Academy is a ministry of Calvary South Austin and is overseen and supported by Pastor Bunjee Garrett.
Bunjee was ordained in 2001 while on staff at Calvary Austin and became the Pastor of Discipleship. While on staff at Calvary Austin, he created scores of tracts, led numerous mission trips, hosted a radio and television show (Regeneration TV Show) and produced several documentaries and short videos. Additionally, he has travelled throughout the United States speaking at conferences on various apologetic topics.
In 2005, Pastor Bunjee was sent out to South Austin to take over as Pastor of a new church. Within a year, that planted church became Calvary South Austin. Since the beginning of his pastorate, Bunjee envisioned a Christian school, one that would provide a Christian education, with the goal of making disciples in Jesus Christ. The first step toward this goal occurred in 2015 when Calvary Kids Development Center opened for children ages 18 months through 4 years old.
When Bunjee isn’t working on a Bible study or counseling, you can find him mountain biking throughout the central Texas area, spending time with his wife, Brenda, and fellowshipping with the believers at Calvary South Austin.
